We don’t speak German (not very well at least) or Portuguese and grammarians can even question our English at the best of times, but we needed to produce a website that offered multi-language functionality.
You’d think there would be a great plugin for that, but not so much – not when you get into the nuances of skydiving’s lexicon.
The Algarve website represented three websites in one, but they had to feel like one to the end-user. The backend of the site has three distinct language content management systems which required our team to create individual page layouts and have the correct translations for each page.
To date, the Skydive Algarve website is the largest dropzone web design project we’ve designed (not including manufacturer websites like Sun Path).
The Swallow Group owns three major dropzones in Europe – Skydive Hibaldstow, Skydive Spain and Skydive Algarve. Our task was to design all three sites ensuring congruity between the sites while also meeting each of the DZs unique brand requirements (blue, yellow, and orange color themes).
The site launch was scheduled for January of 2017 and needed to be congruent to a new set of guidelines – General Data Protection Regulation or GDPR.
As GDPR was so new at the time, our team had to get a formal education on what GDPR was and what it all meant in the realm of cookies and a users privacy. Since the Swallow sites launched, Dropzone Marketing has made GDPR compliance standard for all of its websites.
