In the summer of 2016, DropZone Marketing was approached by the Swallow Group to develop three websites for their three unique dropzones – Skydive Hibaldstow in the UK, Skydive Spain, and Skydive Algarve in Portugal.
Our challenge was to create a distinctive design using triangular geometry in order to present something unique in the marketplace.
Additionally, each website needed to be different, but also give the end user a sense that all three DZs were directly tied together under one overarching brand.
One of the key differences on the Hibaldstow website versus the Spain and Algarve designs was the massive sitemap due to the display of all the charities Skydive Hibaldstow partners with (37 in all).
The DropZone Marketing team developed a charities page displaying all of their partners which in turn had their own corresponding landing pages. This one section of the site alone required attention to detail and many hours to develop.
The original Skydive Hibaldstow website had a huge sitemap that was difficult for users to navigate, which led to high bounce rates and low time spent on the site. It was our challenge to re-imagine how all of the various pages should be structured and more easily found.
From an objective view, we identified the three primary users of the website – tandems, AFF and sport jumpers – note the header on the right. We created three distinct buttons (we term them as buckets) to allow the user to immediately identify what section of the site they should navigate to. Once the user was in the appropriate section, we prioritized what was displayed by analyzing site navigation data.
In all, the client was very pleased by the end result and so were we! We’re very proud of the Skydive Hibaldstow website!
