A Historic Brand 

We met the legendary, Dave “Macca” McEvoy during our whirlwind consulting tour of Australia in 2015 – a countrywide, nine-week tour with stops at 14 dropzones. We fell in love with Ramblers as we could literally feel the history in the trees. So many greats have skydived at this emblematic Aussie skydiving brand.

Seeing the greatness of this dropzone didn’t match what we were seeing online. The website was cumbersome to navigate, not mobile-friendly and the design felt antiquated. We felt it was important for the DZ to not just get a new website, but also to ensure a clean user-experience for online reservations.

Delivering For The Client While Winning For the Client

When a client knows exactly what they want, it always makes for an easier design process, however, sometimes we need to help the client see beyond their vision. The team at Skydive Ramblers wanted a clean, simple design that gave the user one of three simple options – tandem, AFF and experienced – a concept we really liked, but the concept would not be ideal for Google search optimization. Due to Ramblers’ location from Brisbane and with many other competitors, we felt it was essential that the DZ have a more developed home page to allow for a thorough SEO treatment.

Our design team worked closely with Macca and his team to produce a concept that met their desire for simplicity while also ensuring technical needs were being met.

Sticky Header

A design key for the client was to ensure that the menu header was always ‘sticky’ on the scroll. The sticky menu was to remain in place at all times throughout the design experience and is something we coded into the design.

Prominent Blog

Ramblers produces a lot of content by way of their ‘Toogs DZ E-News’ posts. Due to that effort, we wanted to ensure the blog wasn’t tucked away under a menu item, but easily found off of the home page. This was another area where we pushed to extend the design of the home page to include other key elements for Ramblers.

Since the Site Launched

Google Analytics has shown an improved performance across the board from site traffic, time on the site, decreased bounce rates and higher sales conversion for bookings.
