Dropzone Marketing had the pleasure of working with the Swallow Group to develop websites for three of their skydiving brands – Skydive Algarve, Skydive Hibaldstow and Skydive Spain.
Each website had its own unique requirements, and each was to fit into a design framework that felt congruent with the Swallow Brand while also satisfying the needs of the individual DZ’s branding – this was to be a fun challenge!
One of the requirements for the Skydive Spain project was to ensure that the website would be compliant with the then recently published GDPR rules (General Data Protection Regulation).
At the time, GDPR was new for Europe and certainly for us, but we dove right in to learn all there was to know about GDPR to ensure there would be no compliant issues at launch scheduled for January 2, 2017.
The Skydive Spain design required the site to have a one-to-one, seamless translation between Spanish and English without the use of a translation plug-in (these never present clean translations).
To solve the challenge, the website was developed with two independent CMS (content management systems) with their own language fields – each individual English page mirroring its Spanish counterpart. The end result allowed for simple updating by the client and a positive user experience for the English or Spanish speaker.
The great challenge for this design project was the simultaneous launch of Skydive Hibaldstow, Skydive Spain and Skydive Algarve all on the same day at the same time. With the multi-language mirrored pages of the three sites, this project represented six websites. Proudly, all sites launched on time on the 2nd of January 2017!
Several months later, the Swallow Group reached out to our team again to launch a website for their other business – Maybe Sailing. The Maybe Sailing site launched in the summer of 2017 and we couldn’t have been more proud as it required programming to easily showcase itineraries for two separate ships.
