Skydive California’s DZO, Aaron Oehrle-Steele is known throughout the US as one of the most beloved DZOs in the industry. Aaron’s fun jumpers and staff love him for his easy-going nature and drive to continually improve his DZ.
We were asked to create a design that had a true Cali vibe that would stand out from the competition while showcasing the DZ’s culture. We were up for the challenge and enjoyed the creative process of building a fun and vibrant website.
The Northern Cal skydiving market is one of the most competitive in the United States. Not only are there several dropzones, but the price points for tandem skydiving are some of the lowest in the nation. In order to compete here, a dropzone needs to stand out and tell a different story.
Our strategy with Skydive California was to create a unique design with content designed to feel more personal. Many consumers don’t know the difference between a good dropzone and a mediocre one – there isn’t a Consumer Reports for dropzones and is why most skydive consumers purchase on price or proximity.
To counteract these habits, we wanted to showcase the values of Skydive Cal and the people that jump there to better connect with the end-user who would typically go straight to the pricing page.
On the surface, the website appears to be straightforward, but our development team built features to allow Skydive Cal to have greater flexibility.
The home page has been coded to allow the use of video or a static image with ease. Dozens of builder element features have been included to allow for robust page layouts and blog posts depending on various needs. CTA buttons (Gift Cards/Book Now) are ever-present on mobile on every page.
The site has been optimized for Google search (a necessity in such a competitive marketplace) and we helped to migrate the site from skydivecal.com to skydivecalifornia.com while ensuring no negative effect on Google search rankings.
We never wish for our clients to ever be reliant on their marketing agency to make edits; thorough training has been provided to the client to ensure they feel confident in editing the website on the fly.
